Solid Hardwood Flooring

Installation

Solid hardwood floors have a stunning rich appearance that can instantly add beauty to your interiors. These floors are popularly installed in the living room, bedroom, kitchen and dining room.

Step 1:

Before you begin the installation, make sure that the subfloor is properly cleaned. Vacuum and sweep the floor to remove any dust and pay extra attention to nails and staples that are sticking out from your subfloor. Before continuing, make sure that the floor is completely dry.

Step 2:

Run one row of the floors along the longest wall in the room. Install the boards with the tongue side facing the center of the room. Place spacers between the wall and the floor to allow enough room for wood expansion due to heat and humidity.

Step 3:

Nail of glue the boards depending on how you’ve decided to install them.

Step 4:

While laying the other boards, use fitting tools to push the ends of the boards together. Tighten each joint with an edge block as you work your way across the room.

Essential Care

  1. Clean the solid hardwood floors by vacuuming or sweeping first and then using only a damp cloth. Do no use water or harsh cleaning agents as these will damage your floors.
  2. Shield your floors from sunlight by pulling the drapes or blinds or using UV ray protectors on your windows.
  3. Avoid walking in stiletto heels on the floor and sliding heavy furniture across the floors as they can cause unwanted scratches.
  4. Do not place electronics directly on the floor as the heat that is generated from these devices can damage your floors over time.
  5. Make sure to trim your pet’s nails to avoid any scratches on the floors when they move around the house.
